Tractor-trailer Rolls Over on I-95

Florida (December 23, 2011)  Traffic was delayed this morning on I-95 south when a tractor-trailer overturned after rear-ending a box truck in Broward County.  The accident happened at 7:57 a.m. as the flow of traffic came to a stop near Exit 18- Hallandale Beach Boulevard.

Efrain Silva, driving a 2000 GMC box truck south on Interstate 95 and was slowing down for traffic when a 1998 Peterbilt tractor-trailer struck the rear of the box truck.  The driver of the semi, Wilber Pavon attempted to swerve to the left to avoid the collision but clipped the left rear of box truck causing the tractor-trailer to roll over onto the driver side.

Pavon sustained minor injuries in the wreck.  Silvia was not injured.

According to Sergeant Mark Wysocky of the Florida Highway Patrol two lanes of I-95 south were closed as crews assisted the injured and removed the damaged vehicles.  Traffic quickly backed up before all lanes were re-opened around 9:50 a.m.

The Florida Highway Patrol have charged Pavon with failure to use due care in the accident.
