Two Killed when Vehicle Rear-ends Construction Vehicle

New Jersey (February 4, 2012)  A driver and passenger were killed in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Carteret.  The fatal crash occurred around 4:35 p.m. in the northbound truck lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike near Exit 12-Carteret at mile marker 96, according to the New Jersey State Police.

The driver, Marvin Deleon-Quinonez, was traveling north with three passengers when his vehicle swerved onto the left shoulder and slammed into the rear of a construction vehicle.  The construction vehicle was protecting workers at the work site.

Marvin Deleon-Quinonez, 31, of New York was pronounced dead at the scene.  Tono Alarcon, the driver side rear passenger, was transported to Trinitas Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries.  Freddy Morena, in the rear passenger seat sustained serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital.  The front seat passenger, Byron Cardona Aguirre was also injured and transported to Trinitas Regional Medical Center.

Two Construction workers suffered minor injuries.

The New Jersey State Police are still investigating the fatal accident.
