Two Part-time Florida Residents Killed on I-95 in South Carolina

South Carolina, February 16, 2011 – Sometime around 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, a 69-year-old part-time resident of Florida and Washington was headed northbound on Interstate 95 in Sumter County. The driver was accompanied by his his 66-year-old wife, when he lost control of his Ford Explorer.

The SUV overturned, killing the passenger, David’s wife Sandy Lowe. According the the South Carolina Highway Patrol, she was pronounced dead at the scene. David Lowe was transported by helicopter to a nearby hospital where he later died.

A story in The Item reported that the passenger was not wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol are still investigating the cause of the accident.
