Updated: Underage Driver Causes Fatal Wreck

Pennsylvania (June 30, 2011)  A 15 year old driver slammed head on into a Volkswagen when exiting I-95 at Academy Road.  The unlicensed 14-year-old male had taken his mother’s Chrysler Sebring and had three other teens in the vehicle. According to Police, he was traveling on Interstate 95 without headlights at a high rate of speed as he exited I-95.  There he ran a red light and smashed into the Volkswagen, killing a 22 year old passenger and injuring the driver.  The area was littered with debris from the violent collision.  Charges are pending for the 15 year old driver.

Authorities have identified the passenger that was killed as Dan Fouracre of Bensalem.  The 15 year old driver has been identified as Winston Charleston.  According to a spokeswoman from the District Attorneys Office, Charleston has been charged with murder, aggravated assault and related counts.

Update: Winston Charleston has entered a tentative plea agreement in an effort to have his case transferred to the Juvenille Court.  If accepted, Winston Charleston would be sentenced to four years in a juvenile detention facility.  Charleston would plead guilty to aggravated assault, vehicular homicide, and other charges in the fatal accident that killed Daniel Fouracre and seriously injured Jessica Feldman.

The plea would most likely insure that Charleston remains behind bars until he reaches the age of 18.  He would be on probation until he reaches the age of 21.  If sentenced as a juvenile, Charleston conviction would remained sealed.
