Van Crashes, Person Airlifted to Hospital

Massachusetts (November 1, 2011)  A person was airlifted after a passenger van crashed on Route 128 / 1-95 north.  The accident occurred around 10:20 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Route 128 near Exit 13 in Westwood.  The Ford van cam to a stop on the right shoulder on the roadway, with the front bumper against the metal guardrail.

The 46 year-old male driver was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital.  The Massachusetts State Police state the driver sustained serious injuries, no further details have been provided regarding the nature of the driver’s  injuries or the cause of the accident.

Massachusetts State police closed Route 128 down in both directions for a brief period of time to allow the helicopter to land.

All lanes were re-opened just before 11:30 a.m.

The Massachusetts State Police are investigating the accident.
