Van rolls over on the New Jersey Turnpike

New Jersey (December 1, 2011)   Three men were injured when their van rolled over on the New Jersey Turnpike / I-95.  The accident happened at 4:50 p.m. in the outer truck lanes near Exit 9 in East Brunswick.

Forty year-old Elixandro Polanco-Fernandez was driving a Ford van north in the left lane of the New Jersey Turnpike when the left rear tire blew out.  Polanco-Fernandez lost control of the van, causing it to roll over.  It finally came to rest upside down on the right shoulder of the road.

Rescue workers had to extricate the front seat passenger, Francisco Clader, from the wreckage.  Elixandro Polanco-Fernandez, Francisco Clader, and Antonio Clader all sustained injuries and were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Traffic backed up for miles on the Turnpike. Authorities closed the outer lanes so crews could clean up the accident site and attend to the injured.  All lanes of travel were re-opened around 7:30 p.m.
