Vehicle Crashes Through Guardrail in Westport

Connecticut (June 25, 2011) A Volkswagen Corrado travelling northbound on Interstate 95 crashed through the guardrail and went down an embankment between Exit 18 and Exit 19.  According to the Connecticut State Police, the vehicle struck a lamp post and the guardrail.  The Volkswagen overturned as it went down the embankment, ripping the driver’s door off.  A section of the guardrail was cut away to provide access for a tow truck to extricate the vehicle. The driver was transported to the hospital for his injuries.  The accident closed one lane, while Police and Fire crews responded to scene.  All lanes were reopened by around 8:30 p.m.
