Fatality on Scudder Falls Bridge

Pennsylvania (August 02, 2011)  A fatal crash on the Scudder Falls Bridge involving a Mitsubishi Galant and a GMC Yukon is causing traffic delays for commuters between Pennsylvania and New Jersey.  

The accident occurred around 6 p.m. forcing the closure of the bridge in both directions of I-95, for a brief period of time.  Authorities are reporting one person was killed and the northbound lanes are still closed.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police a 32 year-old New Jersey woman was driving north on Scudder Falls Bridge when her Mitsubishi Galant broke down in the right hand lane.  The driver of a 2009 GMC Yukon, Steven A. Wildeman, struck the Galant and overturned.

The driver of the Galant died at the scene, officials are not releasing her name until relatives can be notified.  Steven A. Wildeman and Jennifer Wildeman, a passenger in the Yukon, were transported to St. Mary Medical Center.

According to the State Department of Transportation the southbound lanes have been reopened.  The northbound lanes of Interstate 95 were reopened just after midnight.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.  The Pennsylvania State Police are asking if anyone witnessed the accident to please call Trooper Carrie A. Gula at 215-942-3900
