Vehicle Rear-ends State Trooper

Connecticut (September 25, 2011)  A vehicle rear-ended a Connecticut State Police Cruiser on I-95 north near Exit 53 in Branford during a traffic stop.  According to the Connecticut State Police around 1:15 a.m. Trooper Kevin Duggan had pulled over a vehicle, and parked 2011 Ford Crown Victoria on the shoulder of the road.

As Trooper Duggan was approaching the stopped vehicle on the passenger side, a third vehicle rear-ended the Police cruiser.  The force of the impact pushed the cruiser into the stopped vehicle and Trooper Duggan.

Trooper Kevin Duggan was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was treated and released.

The female driver of the striking vehicle, and the driver of the stopped vehicle sustained minor injuries and taken to the hospital.

Authorities closed the right and center of I-95 north during the investigation.  All three vehicles had to be towed from the crash site.

The Connecticut State Police are investigating this accident.
