Wife Killed, Husband Seriously Injured on I-95

Florida (December 12, 2011)  A woman was killed and her husband was seriously injured in a crash on I-95 in Daytona Beach.  According to the Florida Highway Patrol the fatal accident occurred at 4:30 p.m. near Exit 260-I 4 when the driver struck a tree.

Susanna Chiarini, 69, from New York was traveling south I-95 with her husband, Domenic Chiarini in a 1999 Volvo SUV when she attempted to slow down.  Chiarini applied the brakes and lost control of the vehicle causing the vehicle to spin off the right side of Interstate 95.  The driver’s side of the vehicle slammed into a tree.

Chiarini was transported to Halifax Health Medical Center where she later died.  Domenic Chiarini, 70, was seriously injured and also transported to Halifax Health Medical Center.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal accident.
