Woman ejected from Vehicle in Virginia

Virginia (March 21, 2012)  A woman was seriously injured in a single vehicle car accident yesterday afternoon on Interstate 95N in Colonial Heights County. The accident occurred near mile marker 55 in the northbound lanes of I-95 around 4 p.m. according to Virginia State Police.The 40-year-old female from Chesterfield, was driving in a 2006 Mazda in the center lane when she veered off the left side of the highway. The Mazda hit the concrete barrier causing the vehicle to flip over and the woman to be ejected from her vehicle.

Med-Flight flew the woman to Virginia Commonwealth University.  She sustained serious injuries but not life threatening.

The accident is still under investigation.

The victim was not wearing her seatbelt.
