Woman Escapes Serious Injury in Rollover Accident

Maine (January 3, 2012)  A woman was pinned in her vehicle when her SUV rolled over on I-95 in Bangor.  The accident occurred at 10:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 95 near Exit 18-Broadway according to the Maine State Police.

Tracy St. John, 38, was driving her 2004 GMC Envoy south on I-95 in the right lane when she attempted to change lanes, the steering failed causing her to lose control of the vehicle striking the left guardrail.  The GMC rolled over on its roof, blocking both lanes.

Rescue workers freed St. John from the vehicle and she was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center.

Authorities closed the southbound lane of I-95 as they assisted St. John and cleaned up the wreckage.

The failure of the sway bar appears to be a major contributor to the accident.
