Woman Killed in Fiery Crash on I-95 in Virginia

Virginia (August 24, 2012)  A woman was killed in an accident On I-95 in Stafford County Wednesday night.  The crash occurred shortly before 9:00 a.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 near the American Legion Road overpass according to Virginia State Police.

Monica C. Andre was driving her 2012 Nissan Altima when for some unknown reason she went off the roadway and struck a tree.  The impact of the crash caused the car to burst into flames.

A truck driver rescued a passenger in the back seat, 19-year-old Natalie Andre, the daughter of the driver.  Emergency crews and police were able to get the driver and another passenger, 18-year-old Jonathan Holmes, out of the burning car.

Monica C. Andre, a 32-year-old woman from Brooklyn, N.Y., was transported to VCU Medical Center where she later died from her injuries.

The other two passenger were transported to Mary Washington Hospital.

All three occupants were wearing their safety belts.

The accident is under investigation.
