Wrong Way Driver Causes Accident on I-95 in Florida

Florida (October 3, 2012)  An accident caused by a wrong-way driver happened early this morning on Interstate 95 in Broward County.  The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-95 shortly after 3:00 a.m. near Exit 23 -SR 818 (Griffin Road) according to Florida Highway Patrol.

For some unknown reason, Nicole Herrara was driving her 2009 red Honda north in the southbound lanes and collided head on with a Chrysler  PT Cruiser driven by Azayna Hayes.  The impact of the collision caused the PT Cruiser to ignite.  Luckily, the Azayna Hayes and her passenger,  Amanda Fader, were able to escape from the fiery car and were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital.  Nicole Herrara was also taken to Memorial Regional Hospital.  All injuries were non-life threatening.

All three victims were from Miami.

The accident is under investigation.
