Wrong Way Driver causes fatal crash

Florida (November 11,2011) A fatal accident occurred early this morning on Interstate 95 north killing a 73-year-old man.  The accident happened in Duval County around 3 a.m. two miles north of exit 366.  According to FHP Lt.Bill Leeper, a white Volkswagon, driven by 33-year-old Victor Louis Herrera, collided straight on with a red Mazda pick-up truck causing it to flip over and land on the guardrail. Herrara was driving the wrong way on Interstate 95 north and FHP believes Herrara may have been intoxicated.

The victim has been identified as Eugene Thomas Brunstetter from Holly Hill.  Brunstetter was not wearing a safety belt.  Herrera is a Sailor based at Mayport Naval Station and is a resident of Jacksonville.  He sustained minor injuries and was taken to Shands Jacksonville.  Charges of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide in connection with the fatal crash will be placed on Victor Louis Herrera.
